After graduating from the University of Michigan, Sharon started her career in Tokyo, working for Globe Net Productions and producing segments for a variety of clients, including the PBS/NHK co-production Asia Now. Stateside she’s produced for such shows as ABC’s World News Tonight, Inside Edition, and Forensic Files.

Sharon was a full-time mom and part-time journalist and essayist for nearly a decade. Her essays and articles were featured in many parenting publications across the country as well as Christian Science Monitor, LiteraryMama.com, Tristate Observer (PA), Gihon River Review and Love’s Journey 2 (adoption anthology). Her work has also appeared in such Detroit publications as The Oakland Press, Strut, Suburban Lifestyles, Orbit, Signature, Royal Oak Daily Tribune, and Metro Parent.

In 2011, Sharon won three Gold Awards and one Silver in the Parenting Publications of America Editorial Awards.

Sharon currently works as an editor, writer and video producer at Lawrence Technological University. She is married to documentarian Bill Kubota whose film on World War II hero Ben Kuroki aired on national PBS in September 2007. They live in Troy, Michigan with their two daughters.
